Fracture Of The Proximal Ulna In Association With An Ipsilateral Complex Distal Radius Fracture: A Case Report
نویسندگان
چکیده
Simultaneous ipsilateral distal and proximal fractures of the forearm are rare [1-3]. There have been case reports describing an olecranon fracture associated with an ipsilateral distal radius epiphyseal injury[1], a Monteggia lesion with an associated ipsilateral distal radius epiphyseal injury[4] or associated with ipsilateral distal radius and ulna metaphyseal fractures[5, 6]. Furthermore, there are limited numbers of cases describing concomitant lateral humeral epicondyle fractures in association with a Monteggia fracture[7, 8]. We describe the case of a child sustaining a displaced complex Salter Harris type II transepiphyseal fracture of the left distal radius in association with an ipsilateral simple proximal ulnar shaft fracture and undisplaced fractures of the ulna styloid and lateral epicondyle of the humerus. The management was to treat the distal radius and proximal ulnar shaft fracture with closed reduction and plaster application as two separate fractures, which resulted in a good outcome.

Monteggia Fracture Dislocation with Ipsilateral Distal Radius - Ulna Fracture in a Child
Background – Monteggia fracture dislocation is proximal ulna fracture with radial head dislocation. We present a rare case of monteggia fracture dislocation Bado type III with ipsilateral distal radius physis injury Salter Harris type II in an eight year old boy. It is to highlight the importance of clinical examination and the need of radiograph one joint above and below the fracture. Case Rep...
متن کاملSimultaneous monteggia type I fracture equivalent with ipsilateral fracture of the distal radius and ulna in a child: a case report
INTRODUCTION Simultaneous Monteggia injuries of the elbow and ipsilateral distal radius and ulna fractures are very rare. CASE PRESENTATION A unique case of a type I Monteggia fracture equivalent with ipsilateral fracture of the distal radius and ulna (Salter-Harris type II) in a child is reported. We describe the management of this unique fracture and discuss the possible mechanism of injury...
متن کاملA Very Rare Presentation of Type 1 Monteggia Equivalent Fracture with Ipsilateral Fracture of Distal Forearm-approach with Outcome: Case Report
INTRODUCTION We report a case of Type 1 Monteggia equivalent injury with intact radio-capitellar congruity, associated with epiphyseal fracture of distal radius and distal ulna shaft in an 11-year-old boy. There are only a few cases of Monteggia or Monteggia equivalent injury with ipsilateral forearm fractures in children, and injury pattern being reported by us is not only rare but also the on...
متن کاملUnilateral, Multifocal Fracture of Radial with Ipsilateral Midshaft Ulna Fracture - Two Such Unusual and Rarely Reported Cases
INTRODUCTION Diaphyseal fractures of both bones of the forearm are commonly encountered in clinical practice. Segmental radius shaft fractures are, however, less commonly seen. We hereby report two cases of segmental complex radius fracture with mid-shaft ulna fracture. Such type of cases are reported previously in children but rarely in adults. CASE REPORT In case-1, comminuted radius shaft ...
متن کاملIpsilateral distal radius fracture with elbow dislocation-a rare entity: report of 3 cases
Introduction: Elbow joint is the second most common joint to dislocate after shoulder. 20 percent of elbow dislocations are associated with fractures. Elbow dislocations are commonly associated with coronoid process, radial head and olecranon fractures. Dislocations of the elbow commonly accompany proximal ulna or radial fracture. Elbow dislocation with a distal radius fracture is rare. In the ...
